Dear Island Neighbors,
We’re all fortunate to live on an Island where we can be outside so much. Parks are a very important part of a complete community – they allow us to participate in sports, get some exercise, enjoy nature, and spend family time together. Parks also provide open space where development might have otherwise occurred.
When I first asked for your vote four years ago, I promised that parks would be a real priority for me as your Ward 1 representative on Town Council.
Throughout my first term, I’ve strongly supported the progress we’ve made to bring parks closer to families in Ward 1. These include the Patterson Family Park of nearly four acres on Marshland Road, and the Taylor Family Park of nearly five acres on Wild Horse Road. We on Town Council endorsed master plans for both parks last year.
Just this month, we also approved acquisition of additional lands to improve the access and provide more land for both parks. To learn more about these Ward 1 parks, click here.
At the same time, I’m advocating for much needed improvements to our other Islandwide parks. Stay tuned to see the plans for Chaplin Park and Crossings Park as they evolve this year. I’ll keep you informed on those plans and progress on budgeting the funds needed for all our Hilton Head Island parks.
As always, thanks for your support and your ideas! I hope to see you Tuesday at Town Council and this Friday for our rescheduled Community Conversations! 5pm, Squire Pope Sailing & Rowing Center.
Alex
