District Planning Determines The Future Of Our Neighborhoods

Dear Island Neighbors,

As your representative for Ward 1, I invite you to actively participate in the upcoming District Planning meetings hosted by the Town of Hilton Head Island. This initiative is a vital opportunity for you to share your voice and help shape the future of our community.

The District Planning Project focuses on areas outside of the island’s 11 largest master-planned communities. These neighborhoods, each with their unique history, culture, and character, play a critical role in defining what makes Hilton Head Island so special. These district-specific plans will guide infrastructure improvements, influence zoning regulations, and shape land use policies while aligning with Our Plan, the Town’s Comprehensive Plan.

I want to highlight several districts that are closely connected to Ward 1. These meetings directly impact the future of our neighborhoods:

Skull Creek District
Thursday, Jan. 16 | Hilton Head Island Boys & Girls Club | 151 Gumtree Road – 5pm
Encompassing historic neighborhoods such as Stoney and Squire Pope, this district also includes areas along Skull Creek and properties near William Hilton Parkway.

Marshes District
Wednesday, Feb. 5 | Grace Community Church Youth Room | 450 Spanish Wells Road – 5pm
Bound by Jarvis Creek to the north and Broad Creek to the south, the Marshes District includes neighborhoods along Spanish Wells Road and Marshland Road.

Chaplin District
Thursday, Feb. 27 | Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Carolina Room | 40 Folly Field Road – 5pm
This district spans from Broad Creek to the west to the Atlantic Ocean to the east, including beach parks, the Chaplin community, and Folly Field area neighborhoods.

These meetings provide a platform for you to express your thoughts, share ideas, and contribute to solutions that reflect our collective vision for Ward 1 and beyond. Your feedback is crucial in creating plans that honor our history, preserve our character, and address the challenges and opportunities we face as a community.

Together, we can ensure that Hilton Head Island continues to be a place where our unique culture, vibrant neighborhoods, and natural beauty are celebrated and sustained. I strongly encourage everyone to attend these meetings and make your voice heard.
